Feature & Follow Friday #2 - Blog Hopping Happiness!

Feature & Follow Friday is hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee's View and is a way for book bloggers to make new friends, gain new followers and find new followers of your own!

So, what's new for this week....?

Q: It is up to you to do a Kickstarter campaign for your favorite book!!! Who are you casting for the main characters?

Given that I am TERRIBLE at envisioning who I would cast as my favorite main characters and admittedly don't always love the choices that are made (or go further and say do not love at all when it comes to Kristen Stewart and Twilight....I will NEVER like her!). But I digress.

Instead of trying to picture something I will do terribly, I'm going to think about a recent choice that has received A LOT of attention, and in a lot of cases angry fans Twitter screaming to the world - Charlie Hunnam as Christian Gray. Say what you will about whether you think he will make a good Christian, but I personally am completely OK with this choice for one essential reason......

...he sure is nice on the eyes. I mean, this is Yummy Reads, right?

And let's be honest folks, the books weren't good (don't take that as I didn't like them, because I was thoroughly entertained, as embarrassing as that can be to admit at times). Do you really think the movies are going to be actual GOOD movies? Doubtful. So if the movie itself isn't great, I'm thrilled that one of my all-time fave hunky actors is at least going to be walking around showing it off for a couple hours :)

So who would YOU cast in your favorite book's movie? Or who has been cast that you loved, or not-so-loved? Join the hop and let us know! Add yourself to the list below to join the fun, check here for the rules and to ask questions on the Feature & Follow, and follow me via GFC (preferred) or BlogLovin if you feel like coming back for another visit. Happy hopping!

  2. Hi, Leah! Thanks for stopping by my FF, and following. I have to LOL over the bit you left in your comment over Kristen Stewart. All I said was, "I hear you... enuff said!".

I agree these books were entertaining, and no, they were not the best things I read. Even though I loved the first one for the 'love story', I got very fed up with all the repetition of lip biting and all that nonsense. Anyway, don't think the movies will be great either, but like the hype the books received (why I was curious in the first place and read them), will probably prove to be entertaining as well. I won't rush out to see them, that's for sure.

    I've followed back via GFC.

    Happy Friday!!

    1. Thanks Sandra! I am in exactly the same spot with these movies - I know I will watch them (and in turn enjoy them, if for no other reason than Charlie!) but they will probably be on the $5 rack by the time I do! Who knows though...the books were so bad that maybe the movies will actually improve them, lol!

      Have great Friday!

  3. It's so weird for this book to become a movie. I read this because of a recommendation from my friend, not knowing what to expect :P New follower :)

  5. I really don't care about that movie and I think it's strange that the book is made into a movie. All because of one hype (I don't understand)

    1. It took me forever to cave in and read them as well - sometimes hype drives me towards something, sometimes is sends me screaming for the hills. This one was the latter for the longest time. Definitely not GOOD, but I can't help but be curious :)

  8. I don't mind him being cast as him either. I just definitely think his facial scruff needs to go. I'm more unhappy with Anastasia's casting!

  9. Never read the 50 Shades books and probably won't as they aren't my cup of tea but I find it very amusing to read all the ranting posts about the casting choice :0)

    1. I didn't either until one of my friends from the office sent me a FB post about Charlie being cast because we had talked in the office about how great he would be!

  13. Yeah, I don't think i'll be seeing that movie. He is nice on the eyes though, but I can't imagine how they'll make it into a R movie. I mean, they're pretty much all sex, right? (Haven't read the books)

    1. That's another conversation we've had at the office (there are 6 women in two connected rooms so it can get interesting!)...so much of it is so steamy and quite frankly NOT R rated so it will definitely be interesting.

  14. Hopping through again. Re your comment on my blog about Kristen Stewart. I'm in the minority of people who like her and how she did Bella. She is an emotionally flat actor in how she approached Bella (and pretty much everything else she's done), but I like that. It fit the Bella I had in my mind. And even if her flatness is a limitation of talent, I like that it's different than the other melodramatic Disney-ified female actors of her age range. On the other hand, while I've seen a few other things she's done, I'm not such a fan that I'm running out to see everything she makes. There are only a few actors I'd do that for and the Twilight kids, as much as I like Kristen and Rob, are not among them. Do you have any auto-watch actors?

    1. I can definitely agree that the one aspect I did like about her as Bella was that she pulled of the "flat" better than many could. I think she was going in the right direction of portraying her as awkward and reserved, but what keeps me from liking her is that she comes across to me as though she's acting awkward, rather than really being the character...basically I always go back to thinking that she tried too hard and came across as forced awkward rather than endearing awkward.

I really don't have any auto-watch actors these days, but mostly because we so rarely go to movies with the closest decent theater being in Bozeman :( I do have a handful that I will pretty much always watch if they are on TV or I can stream them - tops these days would be Morgan Freeman, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Meryl Streep, Steve Carrell and Jennifer Lawrence (she's a new one to my list - I watched Winter's Bone a few weeks ago and just fell in love with her so I will definitely be watching her stuff from now on!). I will also almost always get stuck on the couch for a few hours if I find any old Cary Grant or Audrey Hepburn movies on TV...I'm such a sucker for those ones!

  16. Fifty Shades of Grey isn't my cup of tea but it seems like fans are getting more vocal about casting choices. Wasn't it just a couple of weeks ago everyone was up in arms about Ben Affleck being the new Batman?

  17. Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.....
Charlie Hunnam!!! He should definetly play Mr.Grey in Fifty Shades Of Grey.
